Photography. Education. Exploration.
Welcome to the official Patreon home of Captured Wilderness Photography, where a passion for the natural world meets the art, science, and practical skills of photography.
I’m Miguel “Mig” Denyer, the photographer, author, and instructor behind Captured Wilderness.
For many years, I’ve spent countless hours exploring forests, wetlands, mountains, shorelines, and remote wilderness areas, camera in hand, documenting the extraordinary beauty of the natural world.
From the intricate details of macro photography to the breathtaking spectacle of the night sky, my work has always been driven by two things: a desire to capture what I see and a determination to share what I’ve learned along the way.
And that’s precisely why I’ve launched this Patreon community.
More Than Just Beautiful Photographs
Captured Wilderness has never been simply about taking pictures.
It’s about understanding the subjects we photograph, developing the skills necessary to capture them properly, and appreciating the environments in which they exist.
Whether you’re an experienced photographer looking to refine your techniques, a beginner trying to understand your camera, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of nature, there’s a place for you here.
Through this Patreon community, I intend to share an expanding collection of photographic and educational material, including:
-
Exclusive Photography Tutorials: Practical instruction covering wildlife, landscape, macro, astrophotography, and other photographic disciplines.
-
Behind the Lens: The stories, challenges, techniques, and decisions behind my photographs.
-
Fieldcraft for Photographers: Practical knowledge to help you work more confidently, responsibly, and safely in the outdoors.
-
Wildlife and Nature Features: A closer look at the species, habitats, and natural phenomena that make our world so extraordinary.
-
Photography Equipment and Techniques: Real-world discussions about cameras, lenses, accessories, and photographic methods.
-
Members-Only Resources: Educational articles, downloadable reference material, and other resources developed specifically for supporters.
As this community develops, I also intend to build a growing library of educational material that members can return to whenever they need it.
Introducing the Captured Wilderness Digital Magazine
One of the projects I’m particularly excited about is the return of the Captured Wilderness Newsletter, which is being developed into a more substantial digital photography magazine.
Rather than simply filling your inbox with advertising, the publication will feature genuine editorial content, practical photography instruction, wildlife features, photographic showcases, and news from Captured Wilderness.
The regular magazine will remain available free of charge.
However, Patreon supporters will have the opportunity to access additional premium material, including extended articles, more advanced tutorials, and exclusive educational resources.
The philosophy is simple: worthwhile free content for everyone, with something extra for those who choose to support the work.
Your Support Makes a Difference
Producing quality photography and educational material requires considerable time, effort, equipment, travel, research, and occasionally a willingness to stand in freezing temperatures for hours waiting for something interesting to happen.
Sometimes the wildlife cooperates.
Sometimes it doesn’t.
And sometimes the only thing you come home with is a collection of mosquito bites and a renewed appreciation for a hot cup of tea.
But that’s all part of the experience.
Supporting Captured Wilderness through Patreon helps make it possible to continue producing original photography, developing educational resources, and sharing the knowledge gained through years of practical experience.
It also helps support the continued development of the Captured Wilderness website, digital magazine, and photography education programs.
What Happens Next?
This is a new chapter for Captured Wilderness, and we’re just getting started.
Over the coming weeks and months, I’ll be introducing new articles, photographic features, instructional material, and additional resources.
I’ll also be sharing information about upcoming photography workshops, online courses, and other Captured Wilderness projects.
Whether you decide to become a paying supporter or simply follow along with the publicly available content, you’re very welcome here.
I believe that photography should encourage curiosity, develop practical skills, and inspire a greater appreciation of the world around us.
And if I can help a few more people get outdoors, learn something worthwhile, and come home with photographs they’re genuinely proud of, then we’re heading in the right direction.
Welcome to Captured Wilderness.
Let’s see what we can discover.
Sincerely & Respectfully Yours,
Miguel “Mig” Denyer
